"BLANC" - Never ever playing small again

In this post, I’ll share what the 2024 exhibition “BLANC” taught me. How I went from being the smallest presence in the room to creating murals that transform entire neighborhoods.

The terms of the name

The exhibition title “BLANC” - French for white or blank - speaks of emptiness, of whitespace, thus of possibility. To me, it became a metaphor for allowing space for the self. No longer hiding, no longer compressing - just existing.

Never ever playing small again

When I was little, the world overwhelmed me. My survival strategy? Become as insignificant as possible. Slip through life unseen. Avoid the gaze of others so intensely that at one point, I even limped in the street because I couldn’t bear to be looked at.

Eventually I had to explode. We moved into a giant appartment loft, yet l only allowed myself a square centimeter of energetic space. I was living the nightmare: People entered my space uninvited. I screamed inside and outside. All the years of playing small had caught up with me.

I am really grateful for this moment, for the appartment that I am still living in, for my love who supported me to go through this period. And I sweared to myself to never ever playing small again. It is absolutely not worth my life and well being.

Little by little i started to find safety in taking up more space in this world and most important: around my energetic self!

It is so delusional to me, haven’t I always kept myself being the smallest possible in the room, that I now paint these large scale murals that are impacting a whole generation of neighborhood!

What I artistically learned from this

Artistically, I began to understand the power of white space both on the canvas and in life. Leaving space around a subject allows its spirit to breathe and to be seen. Just like I learned to do with myself.

Here is to you

When you ever had the feeling your voice is not heared or your needs are not seen, find the white space within you and feel it, let it grow. Remind yourself of your essence. And when you're ready to see yourself through someone else's

eyes, reach out. I’ll paint your portrait.

This is a series where I recap the last 4 years of solo exhibitions anticipation for this year’s exhibition, happening 12th september 2025 in BORDEAUX! Save the date
